ニュージーランドで生き物とアートを楽しみました

ここ何年か，海外で年末年始を過ごすのが恒例行事になっている．
今回はニュージーランドにした．
カカポ（フクロウオウム）という飛べない鳥が暮らす，わたしにとっては憧れの地．
しかし，調査研究者でもなければカカポに逢うのは至難の業であり，南島は航空券も高くて断念．
Aucklandを起点に，Tilitilimatangi island，Bay of Islands，Kerikeri, Whangarei等へ行く．

北島で生きものとアートを満喫．この国は博物館や動物園でアーティストが大活躍しており，展示がとても格好好い．そして土産物も生きものアートがいっぱいで，生きもの好きにはとても危険な島だ．

またKerikeriではアーティストの画房を訊ねようという”Art Trail”催しを10月に開催している．10月に行くのが無理でも，事前に事務局に連絡して問い合わせれば，アーティストを紹介してくれ，地図も渡してくれる．Ann Winship さんはわたしに案内してくださり，手料理までいただきました．心から感謝いたします．

ニュージーランドではあちこちでCrafts & Art Market，つまり「手作り市」が開催されているらしく楽しい．日本の手作り市と違って食い物はなくアート・クラフト限定のようだ．わたしはRussellのMarketを見にいった．

そしてラベルもたのしい．アーティスト万歳！


Tuataraビールとfat birdワインを「ジャケ買い」．
中身の品質を問わず購入されるのはアーティストのお蔭．もちろん，中身が好ければ再購入につながる
ちなみにTuataraは恐竜の生き残り！のような中トカゲ．瓶と蓋のデザインがTuataraになっている

「梟吹雪」手拭モデル紹介 The model of the "Ural Owl in the Snowstorm"

The owl in the “Ural Owl in the Snowstorm”’ Tenugui is called Shozabro Actagawa (actually, this first name is male in Japanese, but the owl is female). She lives at “Aquapia Akutagawa (a museum for the Akuta river)” in Takatsuki, Osaka. She is a wounded bird. She had injures to her light body, so she cannot fly. I reflected her light eye and wing in the Tenugui design. I went to Aquapia twice and I took many close up photographs.
「梟吹雪」手拭のモデルは，芥川翔三朗さんという傷病鳥である．「彼女」は，あくあぴあ芥川（大阪高槻市）に在住中．体の右側に怪我をしており，飛ぶことができない．この図案には右目と右の翼が反映されている．あくあぴあ芥川へは，二度お邪魔して超・ドあっぷ写真を撮らせていただいた．

Toes and talons　ゆびとつめ
Such close up detailed photographs are rare, but those are necessary for artists. Should I make an only toes of birds photo book by myself?
絵描きが必要とするこういう「部分的あっぷ写真」は，探してもないんである．鳥脚写真集を自分で作るかなぁ．．．








Tail　お
This photograph was not any help to me, so I searched for Ural Owl's tail photographs at library. However, Ural Owl's tails are mostly hidden by branches or trunks... I went to watch Ural Owls at a Zoo, but they had poor feathers because those were changing and growing. I was disappointed!
これがなんだかいまいち参考にならなかったので，もぅすこし整ったものはないかなぁ，と図書館で調べたが，たいがいフクロウの尾は枝や木の幹で隠れていて役に立たなかった．．．動物園へも観に行けど，生え変わり中でボロボロ．タイミングが悪くがっかり．

She is not going to wink, but she is lovely.
ウフっと愛想をふりまいているわけじゃない（埃でも入ったのか，俊膜の動かない痛めた右目をよく閉じていた）んですが．．．かわゆい

Sadly, she flew away to heaven in January 2017. I wanted to meet you again with the completed Tenugui. Thank you so much. I loved you.
とても悲しいことに，彼女は2017年1月に天国へ飛び立ってしまった．できあがった手拭を持って，もう一度あなたに逢いたかった．．．ありがとう，翔三朗さん．あなたがいてくれてわたしは嬉しかった．

At the Japan Bird Festival in Abiko (Chiba), most of booths are outside, it is greatly influenced by the weather. The Osaka Bird Festival is excellent inside or covered outside.

This time it looked like rain, but a lot of bird and wildlife enthusiasts got together at the festival. So I could make use of Japanese Paper Stencil I borrowed from a dyer by the medium of Japanese Tenugui shop (Todaya Shoten Co., Ltd.)
Designers like me rarely see this silk gauze, called “Sha”, stretched on a Paper Stencil, much less people in general. I got an opportunity to display it with completed Tenugui.

Everyone at the Osaka Bird Festival was really nice.
Mr. Kobayashi of Todaya Shoten Co., Ltd accepted my request to borrow a Japanese Paper Stencil. The craftsman; Mr. Kawai made this Japanese Paper Stencil.
The Bird Rescue Society of Japan’s staff gave me an opportunity to make an Ural Owl Tenugui. When I left my booth, they looked after it and give a few gifts to me at the festival.
Many people came to the Matsuba-gaboh Tenugui booth. I received help and assistance from a lot of people. Thank you everyone.

バードフェスティバル大阪 一部展示を始めました

バードフェスティバル大阪の展示準備を一番乗りで始める．戸田屋商店さんを通じて染工場から送っていただいた形紙をここではじめて開封し驚く．こ，これは，もしかして噂に聞きし本物の柿渋和紙と絹の紗では・・・！？　現在注文する形紙は，いずれもプラスチックでできているものがほとんどで，クロス紙に代用のテトロン紗が張られている．

「これに穴空けて壁にピン留めできんだろう」と，あわてて和田学芸員が博物館の収納ケースを持ってきて下さった．今回の展示の目玉は，これ．

大阪バードフェスティバル2015に参加します Join the Osaka Bird Festival 2015 (Nov 14-15)

The Osaka Bird Festival is a wild bird festival in Osaka once every 2 years. All kinds of people, as well as bird enthusiasts get together at the festival.
Matsuba-gabou is going to display Tenuguis, including traditional Japanese Stencils and 2 new designs. The Tenugui have original designs made with traditional Japanese Stencils.
Nagai Botanical garden, near the Osaka Museum of Natural History is free to enter during the festival. The garden has a lot of birds for an urban area of Osaka and even Raccoon dogs (Tanuki) sometimes appear.
So why don’t you enjoy bird watching? I look forward to seeing you at the Osaka Museum of Natural History.

フクロウ手拭（注染）第二段 Fleecy fledgling Owl

Lovely fledgling Ural Owl Strix uralensis was designed to Tenugui. This is the Bird Rescue Society of Japan’s second Tenugui. There's hidden picture.
Usually, “Men (face) -Fukuro (owl)” means Burn Owl Tyto alba in Japanese, but I took in the Japanese by using the Kanji character for “Men (cotton) -Fukuro”. Face and cotton is same pronunciation in Japanese. There is a fledgling Ural Owl in the tree hollow with ennui expression (Actually, she say “I’m hungry...” ?）.

May in Japan is the month season for Wisteria and fledgling Ural Owl to leave their nest. I wish Ural Owl all happiness !

I plopped myself down by the mountain riverside in the spring, where the Japanese
snowbell (Styrax japonica) bloomed. A Varied tit flew over, asking me "What are
you doing?". Please display this on the ceiling.

Art of plants 展 ～それぞれのアプローチ～ に出品します

Art school仲間とボタニカル展覧会に参加します．
松葉画舫は形彫り見学で触れた新作手拭とその他：

・ゑごのき山雀手拭
・“たねぶくろの種袋”
・母島扉に母島目黒（ははじまとべらに ははじまめぐろ）

を出品することになりました．ゑごのき山雀手拭と“たねぶくろの種袋“は販売もしています．
一般的に「Botanical art」というと植物の細密画を指すように思われますが，今回の展覧会で共通なのはお題の植物だけで，手法を限らない，多様性に溢れるとても楽しい展覧会となっています（植物園で開催されてもよさそう・・・）．
お近くにお住まいの方，遠くてもご興味がおありの方は，ぜひいらして下さい．

後日記---
脚をお運びくださった皆様，有難うございました．
時間帯・曜日によるとは思うのですが，わたしが当番だった土曜日は，男性のかたが多く寄って下さいました．逆に，参加者は二人を除き全員女性でした．

さらに後日記---151027
種袋をお求めいただいた方々には，オクラが好評でした．種はおまけでしたが，ちゃんと育ってくれたようでよかったです．我が家では今年日当たりが悪かったのか２個だけ収穫しました．今また種が実りつつあります．九条葱は芽が出なかったそうで．．．ごめんなさい！

ボタニカルアートととは一線を画した、同じ植物でも自分というフィルターを通すと、
これだけ表現が変化するという、それぞれの違いを楽しんでいただく展覧会になりました。

伊勢形紙見学・其の三「職人」

翌日，浅生形紙店のご主人から話を聞く．絵師の方も今は絶えてしまったそうで，新作は望めそうにもない．最も若い方も早くになくなられたようだった．その小林さんという方が修行しているところを長年見ていたそうで，葉書サイズの紙に筆で点ばかり一年，小さな四角ばかり一年，＋－模様を半年，ひたすら描きつづける，，といったことを云いつけられていたのだそうだ．育てるのはとても大変だということがとてもよく判る．そうした絵師は，今でいう“パクられる”と困るので，作業するところを中々見せたがらないそうだ（と，云っても今ではそう簡単に真似られないと思うのだが・・・）．三重県立博物館での特別展示目録に，作品が掲載されていた．
外国で記された英語の本が，最も詳しく日本の形紙文化を紹介していた．塩野米松氏あたりが訳してもいいのではと思う．旧いが好い資料本もお持ちだったそうだが，こちらは客に貸して戻ってこなかったという．
話のあと，形職人のYさんの元へ車で連れて行っていただいた．
